So the weather has really taken a turn for the worst today in London, a clear sign that winter is upon us! Winter is perfect for eating delicious food, drinking the best warm drinks, and layering your winter clothes. Even though the weather is not what it used to be in the summer there are still loads of amazing things to see and do in this wonderful city.
If you want to experience a yummy and delightful British tradition then an afternoon tea is definitely the thing to do. I have found some amazing places to enjoy this English tradition with a twist.
– Afternoon Tea at the British museum.
This is a great way to absorb one of London’s iconic spaces. Located in the Great Court restaurant where you are sat under the beautiful glass roof. « The British Museum is dedicated to human history and culture and houses a huge collection of artefacts from all over the world. » what a great place to relax and enjoy some amazing food!
There is a wide choice of organic loose leaf teas and delicate flowering teas such as Rising Flower or Jasmine Fairies.The afternoon tea menu also includes all the traditional yummy goodness! There are a melody of finger sandwiches, a selection of handmade pastries, and cakes and scones with clotted cream and jam.

One Aldwych have created a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired afternoon tea. From bountiful blueberry brioche, to delightful golden eggs and amazing flavoured candy floss, every item that One Aldwych has created reflects the charm and wonder of Roald Dahl’s imaginative story.
The teatime delicacy’s are served with a selection of award-winning loose leaf teas and infusions, each tea has been chosen to complement the delicate flavours from the kitchen.
One Aldwych is an award winning contemporary hotel right in the heart of London, with just a 4 minute walk from Covent garden tube. This building was originally built in 1907 as home to the Morning Post newspaper, it holds a lot of history and is an important part of London’s Edwardian history.

– Afternoon Tea at Sanderson.
Sanderson is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland in style. The menus are hidden inside vintage bookcases, kings and queens cover teapots, and beautiful sandwiches are served on plates decorated with birdcages, carousels and ticking clocks. In addition to this, the savoury delights include the goats’ cheese croquet monsieur, and white crab eclairs. If you like something a little sweet, don’t worry, as there is plenty to feast on from sinful scones are joined by a red velvet ladybird cake and coffee-flavoured pocket-watch macarons. No afternoon tea would be complete with out the tea, and this is the Sanderson’s crowning glory; Sanderson-exclusive teas. This selection features China Black Tea infused with hints of blackcurrant, vanilla, caramel, citrus, bergamot, blue cornflowers and blue mallow flowers. This one is a real treat for a foodie, the sketch gallery is located jut off Oxford street only a 4 minute walk from Oxford Circus tube station. This is the little sister of 2 Michelin-starred sketch Lecture Room. When enjoying the celebrated sketch afternoon tea at weekends, guests will dine within the spectacularly eclectic dining room.
Bursting with an array of beautiful rainbow colours, an exquisite selection of sketch afternoon tea pastries contains pistachio macarons, coffee éclairs and juicy strawberry and almond tarts.
The afternoon tea is « presented with an innovative artistic flourish, dainty finger sandwiches feature indulgent caviar and decadent quail’s egg or light ricotta, cucumber and asparagus. » Sounds very fancy! Of course no afternoon tea would be complete without scones, which are accompanied by citrus marmalade, fresh raspberry jam and marshmallows. Sounds like one delicious outing.
