Standard Homestay Zone 3+

Standard Homestays are located in TFL transport zones 3, 4 or 5. The homestays will be located in safe and more suburban areas of London. Although located in outer London and the journey time is slightly longer, it is likely you will find the transport links to Central London are very good. In addition, as you are getting on the train/underground earlier, you are also more likely to get a nice seat on train. The houses in zone 3+ tend to be bigger than in more central areas and there is also likely to be more green spaces, such as parks and sports centres.

What to expect
A homestay is a safe part of London within transport zones 3, 4 or 5 with links to public transport (train, underground or bus) to Central London.
A longer but generally more comfortable commute.
A welcoming host with local knowledge and advice about the area.
A more expensive travel card (if you are studying in central London).
Likely closer proximity to green areas such as parks.
One of the best value accommodation options available in London.
Possible smaller town centres within the city e.g. Wimbledon, Ealing, Greenwich etc.

What NOT to expect
A journey time (door to door) to Central London of much less than 1 hour.
For there to be many large chain shops or busy high streets near by. Most of these homestays will be located in quieter suburban areas.
To be completely ‘out of town’. The vast majority of people who live or work in London will be living in homes in zone 3+. You will still be staying in a vastly populated part of one of the biggest and busiest cities in the world. There will still be bars, restaurants, cafes, cinemas near by, there just will not be as many as in Central London.
