The 5th of November, gunfire, treason and plot!

Guy Fawkes night, or Bonfire night, is not an event to be missed in England. It is a night full of history, fireworks and most importantly…toffee apples. 5th November marks the anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot where Guy Fawkes, Catholic explosives expert, attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament and King James 1.

All over the country effigies of Guy Fawkes will be loaded onto bonfires and burnt, celebrating the failure of the treasonous plot. As the bonfires burn, the skies fill with beautiful fireworks, and families and friends gather together. Alexandra Palace firework display:

Found on Muswell Hill, and running from 4th – 6th November, the skies of North London will be illuminated by a dazzling display that is sure not to be missed. There’s a funfair, so if you’re going with your family, there’s plenty to do for kids, and there’s also an adult’s funfair (with a beer tent!), so plenty to do for all. Battersea Park firework display:

Wrap up warm and head out to Battersea Park for a night of beautiful pyrotechnics. With a great soundtrack to get you in the mood, there are lots of stalls to wander around, and family activities to join in with, this isn’t one to miss. Lots of live entertainment means this event tends to be crowded – get there early! Children go free, with adult’s tickets starting from £8.00. Get your tickets here!

Southwark firework display:

This is possibly one of London’s biggest events, as it lights up the skies over London’s biggest attractions. Think you’ve seen Tower Bridge? Not until you’ve seen it dappled in sparkling lights whilst in the company of 30,000 other Londoners. Definitely one to add to the to do list!
