Trooping the Colour!

 

Hi everyone! I am Romane, a French Marketing intern at London Homestays and I will today tell you a little bit more about events happening soon!!

 

First of all, in June each year the highlight of the ceremonial calendar, Trooping the Colour, also known as “The Queen’s Birthday Parade” takes place on Horse Guards Parade in London. In 2016, it’s Saturday 11th June. Although the Queen was born on 21 April, it has long been the tradition to celebrate the Sovereign’s Birthday in the summer. The Coldstream Guards Colour will be trooped at the Queen’s Birthday Parade this year. More than 1,400 officers and men and approximately 400 musicians from the Massed Bands of the Household Division take part in Trooping the Colour.

 

On Sunday June 12th 2016, the party will continue in Pall Mall street. Tickets for a street party to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday in The Mall will cost £150, the majority of tickets for the event will be made available to the more than 600 charities and organisations associated with the Queen, which include Cancer Research UK, the British Red Cross and Barnardo’s. The Mall will be the centrepiece to a truly magnificent spectacle with 10,000 guests. Her Majesty The Queen will be joined by the Duke of Edinburgh and other members of the Royal Family to celebrate the occasion.

 

Horse racing takes an important place in English culture. This is where finest race horses to compete for more than £6.58milllion in prize money. One of the most important races in the world, Royal Ascot, is not only an appointment for racing fans, but also for fashion lovers. For five days, the English go to Ascot to see and be seen. The Queen has attended every Royal Meeting during her reign and the Royal Procession is always an iconic moment to herald the start of every raceday.

 

The London Pride event will take place from 20th to 26th June 2016. During these dates, many activities will take place across London. Soho is the area where most activities, including the ‘Colors of the Rainbow Sky’ is held. Most activities will take place Saturday, June 25, 2016.
