Homestay Accommodation

A private room in a London host's home — designed for students and interns.

Homestay Accommodation

Homestay accommodation is a private room in a London host’s home. It’s designed for students and interns who want a safe, practical base while studying or working in London.

What you get

  • A private room in a host home (shared facilities in most homes)
  • Bills (utilities)
  • Wi‑Fi
  • Bed linen and towels
  • Laundry: up to two washes per week

Good to know:

  • Wi‑Fi is a domestic service and can occasionally be affected by outages.
  • Please agree laundry timings with your host.
  • Bedding is usually changed weekly.

Meal plans

You can book one of the following meal plans:

  • Self-catering: no meals included; you buy and prepare your own food.
  • Bed & breakfast (B&B): breakfast included each morning.
  • Half board: breakfast and an evening meal included.

Meal plans and kitchen access depend on what you book. See: Meal plans explained.

House rules basics

Homestay is a shared home, so you’ll have house rules. The basics are:

  • Be respectful of the household and keep noise to a reasonable level.
  • No indoor smoking or vaping.
  • Visitors are only allowed with the host’s permission. Overnight guests are only permitted with London Homestays’ written permission.
  • Weekday daytime routine: unless agreed otherwise in advance, guests are expected to be out between 10:00 and 16:00 (Monday–Friday).
  • Do not use the host’s address for banking, credit or NI registration without the host’s prior written permission.

For full guidance, see: Student Guidelines.

Under‑18 placements (16–17 only)

We arrange individual under‑18 placements for students aged 16–17 only. We do not place under‑16s individually.

Choosing a location

Most students choose a Zone 2 or Zone 3 home with good transport links. Zone 1 homestays are extremely rare.

How to apply

If you already know your dates, the fastest way to start is to apply online. We usually reply within 1–2 working days.
