Red bull soapbox race is returning to London Alexandra Palace on July 12th 2015!
If you have never heard of this tremendous fun it is definitely worth a watch. What is it?! I hear you cry; well it is an international event in which amateur drivers race homemade soapbox vehicles. Each hand-made contraption is fuelled by nothing but pure courage, and the force of gravity. This fun if not slightly eccentric, non-motorised racing event challenges both experienced racers and amateurs to design and build outrageous soapbox vehicles and compete against the clock in a downhill race. Previous years have seen a piano, a giant baby carriage, a rodeo clown, a massive corn on the cob, a jail cell and the Golden Gate Bridge!
What time does the event start: Gates open at 10:30am. The Red Bull Soapbox Race begins at 12:00pm.
Nearest transport links: Although Alexandra Palace is the closest station to the event these trains will not be frequent, so I would recommend that you use Wood Green Tube Station on the Piccadilly Line where trains are more frequent.
