Group homestays in Devon

Devon

Devon is part of South West England, bounded by Cornwall to the west, Somerset to the northeast, and Dorset to the east. It is most famous for its clotted cream, scones and Devonshire cream tea.

The Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage Site. It stretches from Exmouth in East Devon to Old Harry Rocks near Swanage in East Dorset, a total distance of 96 miles (155 kilometres). Its entire length can be walked on the South West Coast Path. The Jurassic Coast was named as the fifth-greatest natural wonder in Britain.

Devon has a variety of festivals and traditional practices, including the traditional orchard-visiting Wassail in Whimple every January, and the carrying of flaming tar barrels in Ottery St. Mary, where people who have lived in Ottery for long enough are called upon to celebrate Bonfire Night by running through the village with flaming barrels on their backs.
